Bomlambo - Those of the Water, an AFDA Johannesburg 4th year 2010 film has been selected to be screened at the 19th International film festival Contravision in Germany. The festival takes place in Berlin during the month of September. 

Bomlambo tells a story of a young Xhosa woman, Nobuntu, who has a prophetic dream. She finds a young boy Siphelele washed up on the shore and believes that he is a gift from the Abantu Bomlambo. Siphelele is forced to fight for his new home, and a new sense of belonging.

AFDA honours cinematography student, Nina Slabber won the Bronze Award for Excellence in the Craft of Filmmaking at the KODAK Student Scholarship Program 2011. She was recognized for her 2010 third year film, CAKE. The award comes with a grant of $3,000 in Kodak motion picture film and a $500 cash tuition award.

The panel of judges included; renowned cinematographer Robbie Greenberg ASC, Wenhwa Ts’ao, Professor at Columbia College and Lorette Bayle, Kodak Account Manager. The winning films will be screened during the University Film and Video Association (UFVA) 65^th annual conference in Boston Massachusetts, on Saturday, August 6. “It is extremely rewarding for us to witness the success of students and congratulations to you for being part of Nina’s success”, Johanna Gravelle, Marketing Director for Kodak Entertainment Imaging and Melinda Levin, President of University Film and Video Foundation.
